Liner Notes:

“For almost ten years I have been composing music for different bands and projects. In 2014, I felt it was time for a new musical path; I began writing songs only for myself and soon this collection of pieces led into a whole program that I also started to perform live. Playing and singing this music felt more personal to me than anything else I had been doing and after a while, the wish to record this material appeared. However, what was at that time still unclear to me was how to approach this plan, how to arrange and orchestrate the songs. In January 2016, I surprisingly received an e-mail by the musician Pippo Corvino, who I haven't met so far in person, with a recording in attachment. After listening to what he had sent me I found myself amazed and speechless; he secretly made a 'remix' of my song 'Conclusion in a Flat', wrote a new arrangement, added guitars, drums and bass-colours over my voice and keyboard tracks, an enrichment for the sound that couldn't fit better. I realized soon that I had just found out about a very sensitive creative mind and a versatile musician with whom I will be able to speak the same musical language. In the following weeks, we developed a creative process of writing songs together by sending back and forth new sketches that we recorded in our home studios. When we finally met in person in April 2016 we had already collected a decent amount of almost finished songs, ready to continue this work in progress in the real world, which led to more music, first live concerts and finally to this album.“

— Ángela Tröndle

“In January 2016, while spending one free evening listening to music on internet, I have discovered an extraordinary singer, composer, pianist, guitarist... After listening music of Ángela Tröndle I have been truly amazed by the intimacy and simplicity of the sound of her songs. I have never met Ángela before even though we live and work in the same country. After exchanging a few e-mails with her and after spending some hours going through her recordings, I have found soon the one that was calling me to do an unexpected thing. 'Conclusion in a Flat' was a song that I have been listening repeatedly so many times before I started recording an unplanned arrangement. I have never done before such unusual collaboration; taking a recording of a song without informing the composer, who I never saw in my life or talked with in person, going to the studio and adding instruments and layers of tracks to an already existing arrangement. A couple of days after the arrangement has been done, I sent a recording to Ángela without realizing that this little ‘remix’ will lead into weeks of writing music together. We had luck to have both an opportunity to record at home so we have been separately dealing with each other’s ideas and putting them together in songs in a way that today I cannot tell precisely who wrote which parts. After three months of online working, we have met in person and the full concept of ‘Getting Out of the Envelopes’ was more than clear."
